In photoelectric theodolites, the single motor direct drive control method is commonly used. The traditional single-motor drive has the following limitations: On the one hand, the single motor is limited by the output torque. On the other hand, when a single motor drives a large symmetrical load, it will cause inconsistent driving force at both ends and cannot meet the high-power applications. In addition, the single motor drive easily causes the temperature to change drastically, making the rigid support deform, affecting the measurement accuracy of the tracking device. Therefore, the use of multiple motors can not only reduce the mechanical structure, reduce the requirements on the motor, but also reduce the temperature changes at both ends of the support and improve the measurement accuracy.
At present, this technology has been successfully applied to China's large-scale optical measurement equipment, expanding the control bandwidth and tracking the low-speed stability of the control system to improve the tracking control performance. The related research results are published in the "Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics" with the Acceleration feedback of current-following synchronized control algorithm for telescope elevation axis.
