Powder coating giant pressures on downstream industries in China

AkzoNobel Powder Coatings announced yesterday that it will increase the price of all its powder coating products sold in the Chinese market from March 1, 2011. This means that downstream home appliances, automobiles, construction and other industries will bear greater cost pressures.

As the world's largest producer of powder coatings, Akzo Nobel has so far internally digested the impact of rising raw material prices. However, due to the recent rapid increase in raw material prices and no signs of slowing down, the company had to adjust its selling price of powder coating products. Therefore, starting from March 1, 2011, the price of all powder coating products sold in China will be increased by 10% to 20% depending on the type of product, in order to partially offset the impact of rising raw material prices.
