Graphene (carbon nanotubes) is only molecularly sized in thickness, and forms a special liquid on the spider after mixing with water, which can bring a stronger screen. One possibility is that carbon is wrapped around the wire, but Pugno believes that this is not enough to explain the increase in spider hardness.
