The generator generates electricity by rotating the built-in disk with the movement of the human body and the slight movement of the arm. Power Generation Capacity When the disk was rotated one rotation per second, a development product with a diameter of about 4 cm (1.6 inches) was 200 μW, and a development product with a diameter of about 2.5 cm (1 inch) was 20 μW.
The generator uses an electret in order to convert the rotational energy of the disk into electrical energy. An electret is an insulator that holds a charge semi-permanently inside. When the electret is brought close to the electrode, the charge will move and the kinetic energy can be converted into electrical energy by extracting this charge as current. At this time, the larger the time rate of change in the area of ​​the opposed electrets and electrodes, the closer the distance, the greater the power.
This time trial-produced a mechanism in which a rotor with a multipolar electrode is rotated on the same stator with a multipolar electrode as a disk-shaped electret. The rotor rotates with the movement of people's daily movements, so that the facing area between the electret and the electrode continuously changes. In order to maximize the output power obtained through human motion, the researchers optimized the number of electrodes. The electret used was "CYTOP-EGG", a polymer material developed by Asahi Glass.
Hokuriku Electric Industries will exhibit this development product in "CEATEC JAPAN 2015" (Makuhari MESSE International Convention and Exhibition Center, October 7-10, 2015).
