[New] The idea is not new, the new HoloLens helmet helps project safety

The Microsoft HoloLens head is a good collaborative tool and is widely used in engineering projects such as industrial construction, offshore facility construction, and mining projects. However, Microsoft's HoloLens head is not yet available as a daily engineering tool, because a single head display does not fully meet the strict safety standards for engineering equipment.

Now, Microsoft has teamed up with US engineering technology company Trimble to combine Microsoft's HoloLens heads with industry-standard MSA V-Gard helmets to introduce a Microsoft HoloLens head-up kit that can be used in engineering projects. Currently, the kit has been approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and the MR function in HoloLens is preserved.

The kit includes a Microsoft HoloLens head display and an MSA V-Gard helmet. In addition, under the helmet has also increased the attachment clip that can quickly grab, release the Microsoft HoloLens head display. The kit meets engineering protection and dust-proof standards, enabling workers to use the Microsoft HoloLens head-mounted display comfortably and conveniently while working to ensure their own safety and stability of the head-mounted device.

The kit can be used with an application called Trimble Connect, which converts engineering data into a hologram and maps it to the real world. The application can also visualize and share holographic data to facilitate workers' collaborative cooperation, accurately control project quality, and real-timely grasp project progress.

In addition, workers can use Trimble Connect's built-in measurement tools to collect field data and compare it with the data in the design plan. Trimble Connect is currently offering a free trial on the Microsoft Windows App Store.

Aviad Almagor, director of the project at Trimble, said: “In the past, workers used tablet computers to view the terrain and data in the field through 2D models. MR technology is now applied to the industrial field. Workers can view the site through a 1:1 3D model. Physical environment, and can overlay digital models into real-world scenarios."

Aviad Almagor added: "As the acceptance of MR technology in the industrial field continues to increase, the demand for 3D visualization office is also increasing. We are constantly developing the application of MR technology in more environments."
