RENA said earlier that its inline PERC (passivation emitter and back-battery) process equipment InPERC has achieved 18% solar cell efficiency on a customer's production line in China without using a selective emitter cell design.
According to the company, InPERC technology undertook a series of processes: back surface leveling, passivation, and laser ablation, including SoLayTec's InPassion Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) equipment to achieve efficiencies in key areas.
The company said that the Chinese customer has installed InPERC solutions on its high-performance test production line to meet the Chinese government’s recent requirement for photovoltaic manufacturers to achieve an 18% efficiency requirement for polysilicon cells.
