Understanding of the decorative surface of aluminum alloy profiles

[China Aluminum Industry Network] Abstract: This article explains the understanding of the aluminum alloy profile decoration surface, from the definition of the national standard to the actual operation, the decorative surface is explained in depth. The complicated shape of the surface of the profile is explained, and the causes of the appearance of the hanging marks on the decorative surface are explained. The main decorative surface and minor decorative surface of the product are proposed, which play a guiding role in production.

Keywords: decorative surface, visible surface, grooves, hanging marks, architectural aluminum alloy profiles, used in door and window curtain walls or other buildings, with a decorative effect, so whether the surface is intact is an indicator of quality.

The national standard GB5237 defines the decorative surface in such a way that: "The decorative surface is the surface that is still visible when the profile is processed, made and installed on the building and is in the open and closed state." It is understood that the profile product is ready and installed in the use position. The surface of the profile that the person can see is the decorative surface. Due to the product's use of features, when the product shows its function, the visible interior surface is also a decorative surface. For example, after the open window is opened, you can see the inner side of the frame fan, so the adjacent side of the frame fan is also a decorative surface.

The decorative surface of the profile products needs to be controlled with emphasis, but due to the limitation of the production process, the quality of the decorative surface of some products is difficult to control. The individual's understanding of the decorative surface is now described as follows:

1, the complex shape of the decorative surface.

The shape of the decorative surface is relatively complex, not a single plane, often with ribs and grooves. For such shapes with complex shapes, such as the inner corners of profiles and the surfaces of lateral grooves (see Fig. 1), the thickness of the sprayed layer is difficult to reach the standard value. Therefore, the national standard GB5237.4 and GB5237.5 stipulate that the thickness of the surface coating is lower than the specified value is allowed. In other words, the thickness of the sprayed layer on these surfaces that does not meet the standard required value is also an acceptable product. In practice, the measurement of the coating thickness on these surfaces is not easy to achieve and is generally only measured visually and without the use of instrumentation.

2, the decorative surface for a week.

The profiled products with a decorative surface for a week, such as the middle door and window material, the hundred leaves of the decorative material (see Fig. 2), square pipes, etc. These products require all of their surfaces to be sprayed, and the use of vertical lines would be better, while horizontal lines would be difficult to produce.

The vertical line is sprayed at the end of the profile with a lifting hole, but the thickness of the film sprayed on the back of the spray gun is slightly thinner, and the other effects are not significant. However, for horizontal lines, there is a problem of hanging marks. The product needs to be sprayed on the chain of the spraying line. The hanger must be in contact with the surface of the profile. The contact surface will not be sprayed and it will leak.

Horizontal spray lines, including powder electrostatic spraying, fluorocarbon paint spraying, and production processes that limit the appearance of decorative products on profile products. This requires the manufacturer and the customer to reach a consensus, and the presence of hanging marks is permissible.

3. Main and minor decorative surfaces There are no provisions in the national standard regarding this major and minor issue. It only exists in actual operation. With reference to the "visible surface", the definition of "visible surface" in the standard GB/T 8814 of the PVC-U profile is "the surface of the profile that can be seen when the door and window are closed." The main decorative surface of an aluminum profile product is “the surface of the profile seen from the front when it is closed after installation”; the minor decorative surface is “the surface of the profile that is seen only when it is opened after installation”. Implicit means that when a person does not pay attention, or does not specifically look at the surface, it is a minor decorative surface. As shown in Fig. 3, the main decorative surfaces are two large surfaces, and the minor decorative surface is the inner surface that is visible when the window is opened.

In the same situation, the main decorative surface is more important than the minor decorative surface. It needs to be explained here that whether it is a major or a minor, if the quality standard of the decorative surface fails to meet the requirements, it will be unqualified.

In summary, the decorative surface of profile products is the key to control, because the complex shape of the products and the limitations of the production process will affect the quality of the decoration. Both the supply and demand sides truly recognize the importance of the decorative surface and can achieve a win-win situation for both parties. (Lier Aluminum Technology Department Wang Chunhai)
