The golden decade of China's machinery industry development

  From 2002 to 2012, the total output value of China's machinery industry increased from 1.86 trillion yuan to 18.41 trillion yuan. In 2012, it increased by 8.9 times compared with 2002, that is, the industrial scale increased nearly 9 times. Over the years, the growth rate of the machinery industry has been much higher than the national GDP growth rate.

  Power generation equipment, large and medium-sized tractors, CNC machine tools, and automobile production are growing at a high speed. The total power generation capacity of power generation equipment in 2012 reached 127 million kW, the production of large and medium-sized tractors was 463,000 (including 56,000 large-scale tractors), the production of CNC machine tools was 219,000, and the production of automobiles was 19.27 million.

  In addition, the development speed of metallurgical mining machinery, petrochemical machinery, engineering construction machinery, instrumentation, cultural office equipment, general machinery and food packaging machinery is also very fast. The industrial scale of the machinery industry has surpassed that of the United States, Japan and Germany, ranking first in the world. A number of important products, such as power generation equipment, power transmission and transformation equipment, automobiles, loaders, motorcycles, large and medium-sized tractors, and internal combustion engines, have ranked first in the world.

  The self-sufficiency rate of mechanical products in the domestic market has been continuously improved, and independent brands have developed rapidly. China's construction machinery self-sufficiency rate has increased from about 70% during the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period to more than 80%. A large number of major new products urgently needed by various industries have been developed and developed. Among them, metallurgical mining machinery: 5.5m wide thick plate mill with world advanced level, 10 million tons of underground coal mine complete equipment, the world's largest φ7.9×13.6m ore ball mill, the world's largest 100MN double-action horizontal aluminum extrusion Press, the world's largest 55m3 excavator, the world's largest power, the highest mining height of the intelligent coal mining machine.

  Metal processing machine tools: New breakthroughs in the development of large-scale and high-end machine tools, processing CNC vertical lathes with a diameter of 16m, processing ultra-heavy vertical lathes with diameters of 20m and 22m, the world's largest grinding CNC with φ2.5m×15m and bearing capacity of 150t Roll grinder, CNC vertical hobbing machine with diameter of 8m, the world's first CNC gantry boring and milling machine with a working table width of 11m, the world's largest super-heavy double-column CNC floor boring and milling machine with a diameter of 320mm. Power generation equipment: The key technical equipment of high-power super-critical 1 million kilowatt-class thermal power generating units has been established in China, which indicates that China has mastered the technical capability of building the world's most advanced thermal power units, and has a world-class domestically produced 700,000 kW mixed-flow water wheel. The generator set has been officially put into operation. Power transmission and transformation equipment: 1MV UHV AC transmission and transformation complete equipment and positive and negative 800kV DC transmission complete sets of equipment successfully developed, is currently the world's highest operating voltage, the largest transmission capacity, representing the highest level of international power transmission and transformation technology.

  Construction machinery: the world's longest 101m boom concrete pump truck, China's largest diameter 11.22m mud-water balance shield machine, 1000t all-terrain crane, 11.5t large loader, 46t internal combustion forklift, the world's advanced level of 3600-ton crawler Cranes, etc.

  International economic and technological cooperation is booming, and import and export trade is growing rapidly.

  After joining the WTO, the international economic and technological cooperation of the machinery industry has flourished. "Introduction" and "going out" have opened up a new situation, improved the quality and level of foreign capital utilization, and the rapid growth of import and export trade. First of all, the introduction of advanced technologies in various ways, through digestion, absorption and re-innovation, has improved the technical level and independent innovation capabilities, such as the Three Gorges 700,000 kW mixed-flow turbine generator set.

  Secondly, the quality and level of foreign capital utilization have been improved, and the three-funded enterprises have become an important force in the development of the machinery industry. Most of the world's 500 largest multinational companies have invested in China and established a number of regional headquarters and foreign-invested R&D institutions. In the export of machinery industry in 2012, foreign-funded enterprises accounted for more than half of the machinery industry's exports, and they are developing rapidly.

  Third, export trade is developing at a high speed. According to the research report, the export of machinery industry in 2012 was 350.6 billion US dollars, nearly 7 times higher than the 44.1 billion US dollars in 2002, a record high. In 2006, China's machinery industry saw a trade surplus for the first time, ending the deficit situation since the founding of the country. In 2012, China's import and export of machinery products was US$53.99 billion. This is an important factor driving the development of the machinery industry.

  At the same time, the structure of export products has improved significantly and international competitiveness has continued to increase. Such as power generation equipment, power transmission and transformation equipment, some general machinery, engineering machinery and a number of key components and other export momentum is very good. Jinan No. 2 Machine Tool competed with a number of strong players and won the task of exporting a number of automobile stamping production lines to Ford Motor Company of the United States.

  Fourth, actively “going out” to open up international markets and carry out international operations. Due to the large export volume, some enterprises have established sales outlets in many countries; some enterprises have invested and established factories abroad or joint ventures and cooperation with foreign companies, which has improved the technical level and broadened the sales channels. For example, Beijing No. 1 Machine Tool Plant acquired WALDRICH COBURG, a German company that manufactures heavy-duty CNC portal milling machines; Geely Automobile acquired Volvo Cars, a well-known brand; and Sany Heavy Industry acquired the famous German engineering machinery company Putzmeister (production of concrete machinery) Etc., greatly improving the technical level and management level of Chinese enterprises.

  In order to build a well-off society in an all-round way, the machinery industry has a long way to go.

  The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed to "ensure that the grand goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way will be achieved by 2020", and the machinery industry is facing an arduous task. Although the machinery industry has achieved great results, compared with advanced industrial countries, there is still a big gap in the manufacturing technology level of China's machinery and equipment.

  First, the ability of independent innovation is not strong, basic research and development is still weak, and the independent brand effect is insufficient. Some industries' high-end equipment still needs to rely on imports.

  Second, the economic development mode, production efficiency, management level, and business philosophy are still far behind the same industry as the advanced industrial countries.

  Therefore, the machinery industry needs to improve its independent innovation capability, enhance its core competitiveness, vigorously develop advanced technology and equipment, accelerate transformation and upgrading, optimize industrial structure and product structure, further improve the level of opening up, and actively carry out international operations. These all require us to make arduous efforts. The machinery industry has a long way to go.
